Trophies

Officially the best sporting Squadron in Wales and West

The 2006 sporting season has proved to be very successful for 1429 Sqn, not only did we win the best sporting Sqn in the Wing we went on to be the best sporting Squadron in. Wales and West Region.

Our Cadets star in a Hollywood Movie...

Peter Hughes-Jones, Cadet Warrant Officer Robert Brooks, Sgt Harry Robjohns and Cdt Tom Taylor, star alongside some of Hollywood’s finest in a film about the life of Dylan Thomas.

Blacham Bronze

 

The Blackham Bronze Award has been awarded to Flt Sgt Robert Brooks for being the best Cadet from the Wales and West Region.

The Lees Trophy

Lees Trophy

For the second year running we are No 3 Welsh Wings representative for the Lees Trophy.

The Trophy started in 1949 by Air Marshall Sir Alan Lees and is awarded to the best Squadron in the Air Training Corps.

Our inspection by Regional Commandant of Wales and West region, Group Captain Dick Allen FRAeS RAFR will take place on the 19th April 2007.

The Dacre Sword

The Dacre Sword may be on the horizon for Robert Brooks. He has just been awarded the Blackham Bronze Award as the Wales and West regional representative for the Dacre Sword.

He is now down to the last six cadets in the country.

Six Form Scholarship
Line

Flt Sgt Robert Brooks has been awarded with a Royal Air Force six form pilot scholarship.

The Royal Air Force has invested in Ft Sgt Robert Brooks to continue his A Levels in Cardigan secondary school.

Robert has recently come back from RAF college Cranwell after him selection exams.

Afan Argoed

1429 Sqn (Cardigan and Aberporth) are this years Afan Argoed challenge winners.

Competing against 16 Squadrons of No 3 Welsh Wing, we narrowly beat Pontardawe Sqn on a taxing day involving a walk of the country park, First Aid, Leadership tasks and airmanship skills.

New Minibus
Line

All that hard fund-raising has paid off, we took delivery of a new minibus on Wednesday the 30th August.

This 17 seat Peugeot minibus will solve all our transport problems and enable us to attend more activities in 2007.

We would all like to thank everyone that has supported the Squadron in raising money for the minibus and we hope that we can count on you all to continue the support to keep it on the road.

We would like to give thanks to all that have suppored the squadron in fundraising and special thanks to Robert Davies Motors Ltd, Llechryd for their support and contribution to our cause.
